The MXGP of France returned to the track in Villars sous Ecot last weekend. The atmosphere was great, with many fans from France and Switzerland attending the event to cheer on their favorite riders. On this occasion Valentin Guillod recorded his best performance of the season so far, finishing 6th overall.
During Saturday’s qualifying, Valentin made an outstanding start and placed 8th for the races. On Sunday, after two excellent starts from the grid in both Race 1 and Race 2, he executed two perfect races crossing the finish line in seventh position. He is now tenth in the world championship classification and he is the second as a private rider.
Coming back to MXGP for his home round, Stephen Rubini finished the GP 16th place overall. In the qualifying he placed 15th, then on the race day he provided two solid rides, even though he made two average starts. To be noticed in the second race the recovery from 26th to 13th position.
Emil Weckman unfortunately did not race because he had a high-speed crash on Saturday that resulted in a mild concussion.
Josse Sallefranque: “I’m very happy, for a French team it is necessary to get good results at the French GP and thanks to Valentin, who finished sixth, we did it! We are fighting with the factory teams, it’s great and all this was done with the support of many partners that we thank for their support and presence. Stephen had a difficult first moto, but he did well in the second race and he is where we expected him to be. Of course we are sad for Emil who had a big crash on Saturday which caused him a small head trauma.”
